In 2017, I travelled the west coast of the United States from Los Angeles to Oregon
in a rental car.
The photographs in this zine were made along the way, Shot primarily on a 35mm point & shoot camera & Super 8 camera. Spanning streets, small towns, forests, wildlife, and the coastline. All collected over the course of a month on the road, they reflect a practice of observation shaped by movement through unfamiliar places.
Rather than following a single subject, the work moves between people, places, and encounters that emerged during the journey. The photographs are connected, forming a sequence of observations made while travelling through a changing Californian landscape.
Together they form a personal record of travel & curiosity met with nature.
